Save Liverpool Women’s Hospital Campaign was formed to protest against the threats of closure of Liverpool Women’s Hospital. Public support for the campaign is huge and with over 37,000 people signing the online petition on 38 Degrees, and over 25,000 likes on the Facebook page it’s clear that Liverpool Women’s Hospital is close to many people’s hearts.
There is a public meeting on Thursday 15th September 6:30pm at Kuumba Imani and a public demonstration and march on Sunday 25th September starting 12 noon outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
The campaign demands are;
• Full public funding, sufficient to allow LWH to thrive, for all our sisters, mothers, daughters and babies
• No privatisation or cuts
• No loss of beds
• Better funding for midwives
• Keep the focus on women and babies
With new laws, the Clinical Commissioning Group chooses which hospitals to keep open and which to merge or close. SLWH want to make a HUGE impression, so the voice of the Liverpool Women’s Hospital and its users cannot be ignored.
A family based march and demonstration from the Liverpool Women’s Hospital to the conference centre on the waterfront to lobby the Annual Labour Conference when they meet in Liverpool in September has been arranged. This will launch the campaign at a crucial point, when SLWH campaign fear negative decisions will be made about the future of the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
SLWH welcome all supporters and supporters of all NHS campaigns to join them on this march and are encouraging people to bring family, friends, children, workmates, neighbours, anyone you can think of to come and help show support for Liverpool Women’s Hospital
For more information on the campaign and demonstration please contact Felicity Dowling and the team using the below details or attend the public meeting. The meeting will be communicated in three languages, English, Arabic and Somali.
